In what was always going to be a tough game, drawing the defending champions first round, the 2012 Cubs lost their first game 52-8 in terrible conditions in Wollongong.

The Cubs this year are a young squad, and for the majority of the team this was their first experience with the game. All that being said, they played some patches of excellent football, especially in the second half where they were able to sustain some drives, stop the Brumbies’ attack, and play sound special teams.

Although nobody from the team enjoyed the final score, the guys had a bunch of fun in their first game, learned some lessons about what the game is like, and are ready to take it to the next level for their upcoming game.
