2011 Waratah Bowl Highlights

Off the field, the Lions' family has worked together to produce something that may even look better than what we put on the field in 2011. With the filming of Girard Dorney and Erin Black, Sam Darcy was able to put together this highlights package that we believe is one of the prettiest amateur highlights packages floating around.

In what could best be described as a clinical effort, the University of Sydney Lions defeated the West Sydney Pirates 47-8. There will be a full match report, with highlights and photos to come.

There is an old football adage that says to succeed in the playoffs, a team needs to be able to run the ball and play good defense. The Sydney University Lions did nothing to dispel this theory as they defeated the UTS Gators 42 - 9 to book their place in a 12th consecutive Waratah Bowl.

Lions beat UTS 42-9

In their first round of the playoffs, the Lions beat UTS 42-9, on the back of a stout defensive performance, to book a spot in the Waratah Bowl. Full match report to come, photos thanks to Terri Shine on the multimedia page.

The conditions could not have been any more different from the first time the Sydney University Lions played the Northwestern Predators this season, but the result was almost exactly the same. The last time these two sides met was on a dark and stormy Pennant Hills night. Lighting flashed over the hockey field as rain poured down on the players without remorse. This time the setting was much more pleasant.
