Lions secure place in Waratah Bowl

With a 46-14 victory over UTS, the 2013 Lions squad booked their place in the Waratah Bowl.

In a physical encounter, the defence stepped up, smothering the potent UTS attack and forcing multiple turnovers. Keenan Mackett continued to add to his interception total, while the front 7 managed to put pressure on the UTS quarterback who was unable to achieve much.

After a slow start the offence came to life on the back of Alex Watson, who was physical and carried the attack on his back. In between the dominant running were big plays by Andre Benjamin, Sam Darcy and Anthony Tuong.

The Waratah Bowl will be played against the Northwestern Predators, who have been on a hot streak of late, and are coming in confident against the Lions.
